You were my middle school best friend. Some time in high school we drifted apart. I feel a bit of guilt for the distance for some reason. I sometimes wonder what our lives would be like if we were still that close. But, nonetheless, you were a fantastic best friend for those formative years. We were silly together and we understood each other. Your family treated me like their own. I called your mom “mother” in Korean and she called me by my Korean name. I felt the love from you all. You were always so thoughtful with your gifts- I still have that framed collage of our pictures. I admire how close you are to your family. I love how excited you would get when musical or Kdrama OST’s would play. I admire how much you embraced your culture. I vaguely know what you’re doing now from our brief text exchanges, but I hope you’re doing well in school and your career. You’re a smart and genuine person. Thank you for being a part of my life.
